The Duck Shooter is more than just an exploration of working class men as they attempt to navigate themselves through the unfamiliar and uncomfortable territory of grief. It is a mythic and violent struggle over a father’s legacy and what it means to be a man in contemporary Australia. ‘The Duck Shooter’ started life as a one-act play, ‘Lime-Green Jelly,’ was transformed into a successful film, ‘Erskineville Kings’ starring Hugh Jackman and now, nine years after it was first written, is fully developed as a stage drama. The script was further developed at the Australian National Playwrights Conference in April, 2003, and presented as a staged reading by Brink Productions in 2004.
